About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Geometallurgy, the key focus of the Metallurgist is to contribute to the planning and development of BHP’s Pilbara Iron Ore resources by managing programs to measure and predict ore body characteristics and physical properties to inform tactical and strategic planning. The Metallurgist will also undertake / manage allocated projects aimed at:
- Increasing deposit knowledge to enable informed processing operational decisions.
- Improving quality and utilisation of geometallurgical data.
- Optimising iron ore product estimation processes.
- Assisting in the scoping, co-ordination and management of geometallurgical drilling & testwork programs, 5 Year Planning and Life of Asset Studies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development. You will be an accomplished and skilled Metallurgist with the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Minerals or Chemical Engineering.
- Previous experience in Geometallurgy.
- Processing plant operational experience.
- Competency in the use of programming or scripting languages.
- Experience in the building and implementation of predictive Geometallurgical models.
- Ability to manage metallurgical laboratory programs and interpret testwork results.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse workforces and multiple disciplines.
