About the Role

We are seeking a safety focused and proactive Metallurgist to join the Metallurgical team at the Kambalda Nickel Concentrator.

The Metallurgist plays a pivotal role in the optimisation of plant performance – focused on supporting daily operations, driving continuous improvement, and providing technical guidance through metallurgical data processing and analysis. The role offers a unique opportunity to work on commissioning activities with the Concentrator restarting after a refurbishment campaign.

Key responsibilities will be to:  

  • Oversee daily process plant performance, completing technical reviews and providing direction to the operations team
  • Develop and manage metallurgical test work programs
  • Identify and execute improvement opportunities in safety, cost, and productivity
  • Build and maintain production plans, routine reporting, and managing metallurgical accounting duties
  • Work closely with various business stakeholders, representing Kambalda Operations as a Subject Matter Expert

This position will be offered on a FIFO from Perth or Residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda, Western Australia. Roster will be 7:7  (7 Days on and 7 Days off)   

About You

We are seeking an energetic and team-oriented person with a commitment to supporting transformation and site process optimisation across our Kambalda Operations.

 The following attributes will be highly regarded: 

 Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or equivalent are required.

  • Your previous experience in process plant operations, metallurgical laboratory and sampling, and base metal flotation would be advantageous
  • Strong effective communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple business levels from multiple disciplines will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, and experience in using improvement tracking tools.
