Superintendent Metallurgist  

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent Metallurgist, for a full-time Perth based opportunity. This role will report to the Manager Metallurgy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support development of team and strong culture, whilst provide guidance to stakeholders
  • Be flexible to adapt to changing priorities, have a passion to think outside the box and be able to prioritise
  • Review short and long term OPF performance against plan assumptions/ regression predictions
  • Assist site with implementing standard procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of measurements
  • Investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics
  • Planning, coordination & metallurgical evaluation of multiple projects con-currently (Diamond drilling & other studies)

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 12 years’ experience in a Metallurgy role (ideally of which at least 3 years should be Iron ore and a mix of site operational experience)
  • Knowledge or experience with Mine Geology & Geometallurgy teams, including behaviour of ore during comminution and associated mineral extraction technologies such as magnetic separation and classification highly regarded.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy/ Mineral processing or similar
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written with strong analytics skills
  • Knowledge of data science, machine learning, mine planning systems, Tableau, R, Python highly regarded
  • Team orientation and strong ability to take initiatives towards continuous improvement
