Closure Planner
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday)
Fortescue’s Closure Planning team is a small, dynamic team within Fortescue’s Strategic Planning department, accountable for estimating the financial provision for Fortescue’s Pilbara mines and infrastructure projects. The closure team also support environmental approvals and studies through the development of closure strategies and compilation of closure plans, which provide the basis of estimate for our closure cost estimates. Reporting to the Principal Closure Planner, Fortescue has opportunities for Closure Planners at junior and senior levels of experience.
Closure Planners focus on the development, review and update of closure plans to meet WA regulatory guidelines for closure. Closure Planners also support the twice-yearly financial provision update activities and undertake annual environmental reporting requirements for their assigned Projects / Mines.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Coordinate and deliver mine closure plans to support environmental approvals and cost estimation.
- Work with stakeholders to develop studies and field trials to close knowledge gaps. Gaps could relate to soil, landform design, water management, vegetation, or implementation costs.
- Develop annual provision and life of asset closure cost estimates.
- Drive education and governance programs for progressive rehabilitation activities within the business.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Opportunities for Closure Planners at junior and senior levels of experience
- Experience in project management, closure cost estimation, risk management and rehabilitation landform design required at Senior levels
- Strong communication skills (formal and informal, written and verbal) at Junior and Senior levels
- Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS preferred)
