About the role
We are looking for a Mine Controller to provide support to our bauxite mining operational teams in Weipa and Gove to safely achieve mining targets by assigning and distributing mining equipment efficiently and effectively.
This role is an exciting opportunity to draw on your expertise in dispatching and fleet management and be a part of the team that helps shape the Brisbane OC for success. You will need to be a self-starter who thrives on achieving goals, working on continued self-improvement and can work calmly and independently under pressure.
Working a 12.5 day/night 4,5,5 shift roster in the Brisbane CBD within a diverse team and reporting to the Supervisor – Operations Centre, you will be:
- Assigning and prioritising mining equipment to safely deliver the required tonnes and quality while considering changing priorities and conditions, mine haul lengths and equipment availability;
- Maximising the use of automated dispatching processes to minimise haul fleet congestion through reduction of operational delays and surplus fleet operation;
- Working closely with operational leaders and grade controllers in the field to resolve process bottle necks and ensure conformance to plan;
- Applying consistent application of best practices and ensuring the integrity of data within the fleet management system.
What you will bring

- A high level of computer literacy and excellent verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities calmly and professionally
- Passion for continuous improvement and data driven decision making
- Live within 45 minutes commuting distance from Brisbane CBD (All candidates must undergo a fatigue management risk assessment plan which includes travel from home to work)
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Intermediate level knowledge Excel
- Experience with Wenco Fleet management systems
- Experience in logistics or remote operating centre

The Operations Centre is located in Brisbane CBD and established to support our Pacific Operations and plays a pivotal role in the future success of our Pacific Aluminium business. The team is responsible for driving the optimisation of the overall supply chain value using state-of-the-art monitoring processes and data driven decision making.
