Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Senior Geologist- Projects, The Mine Geologist will provide geological expertise to production, development mining and drilling operations at Cadia Valley Operations.
The Mine Geologist will demonstrate absolute commitment to safety by supporting the Safety Management System, ensuring a safety-first work culture, and applying site standards, procedures, and policies.
Other responsibilities include:
- Execution and co-ordination of underground development mapping and sampling at Cadia.
- Co-ordination of computer based geological mapping, including geological level mapping.
- Updating of 3(D) dimensional structural and lithological interpretations.
- Execution, co-ordination, and supervision of diamond drilling (underground and surface).
- Technical inputs and the design of drill holes for a range of drilling methods (Diamond, Sonic, RC).
- Deliver robust, well scoped and risk assessed grade forecasts and stockpile strategies to achieve the business objectives and contribute to the success of the integrated planning process.
- Maximise value of Cadia through the tracking of grade variance to forecast, ensuring anomalies are investigated and closed out in a timely manner.
- Assist in the reconciliation process, including the subsequent reporting and investigation, ensuring the on-time release of concise monthly reconciliation reporting data.
The ideal applicant will have experience in production, development and drilling however candidates with a focus on underground mapping and/or drilling operations are strongly encouraged to apply.
You will also possess the following:
- A relevant degree or tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Science
- Experience with drill hole design and contractor supervision
- Experience with geological interpretation and generation of geological models.
- Experience with Grade forecasting and reconciliation.
- A strong understanding of the mineral system controls (structural, geological, mineralisation, alteration) and deposit models/styles/footprints expected in the province.
- Competent in the use of geological software packages; experience using Vulcan, Leapfrog and Point Studio would be desirable.
- A valid Open Australian driver’s licence
