We are seeking an experienced Geologist to join our site-based team in Blackwater on either an 8/6 roster or Monday to Friday.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:

• Provide geology support and information through daily pit inspections and communication with production personnel
• Production tracking and capture of accurate coal mining data to support the reconciliation process
• Promote focus on best practice coal mining and coal recovery
• Complete highwall mapping
• Identify coal quality splits and ensure mining conformance
• Complete geotechnical inspections and communicate geotechnical hazard controls with production personnel
• Opportunity to develop structure and quality modelling skills in a complex geological setting

About You

This role would suit a tertiary qualified Mine Geologist with previous experience in Coal Mining;

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology and / or Geotechnical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience working in an open cut coal mining environment
• Hold a current Queensland drivers licence
• Experience in a software package, ideally Vulcan or Minex
• Understanding of Coal Mining Safety & Health Legislation
• Ability to communicate technical information to various departments including Technical Services and Production
