We are seeking an experienced Geologist to join our site-based team in Blackwater on either an 8/6 roster or Monday to Friday.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:
- Provide geology support and information through daily pit inspections and communication with production personnel
- Production tracking and capture of accurate coal mining data to support the reconciliation process
- Promote focus on best practice coal mining and coal recovery
- Complete highwall mapping
- Identify coal quality splits and ensure mining conformance
- Complete geotechnical inspections and communicate geotechnical hazard controls with production personnel
- Opportunity to develop structure and quality modelling skills in a complex geological setting
About You
This role would suit a tertiary qualified Mine Geologist with previous experience in Coal Mining;
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology and / or Geotechnical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience working in an open cut coal mining environment
- Hold a current Queensland drivers licence
- Experience in a software package, ideally Vulcan or Minex
- Understanding of Coal Mining Safety & Health Legislation
- Ability to communicate technical information to various departments including Technical Services and Production
