About the Role

  • Exciting opportunity for an experienced and versatile Geologist to be an integral part of the Mt Keith and Satellite Mine project team

  • Family friendly FIFO roster - 7 days on 7 days off (5 days on 2 days off 4 days on 3 days off roster available for a right candidate)

The main aspects of this role are to provide timely, high quality geological input into the mining process and promote safe working practices in the Mine Technical Services Department. This role will also focus on the day-to-day mining operations at the current Mt Keith open cut operation plus creating and executing the pre-work linked to the development of the Mt Keith Satellite Mine project based on the Yakabindie deposit.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in setting up a long-term open cut operation which has the potential to lead into greater roles and responsibilities. We are looking for the right candidate who is team focused and able to lead through innovation and performance.

Approximately 50% of the Mine Geologist's time is spent in the field and the remainder in the office. The key functions provided by the Mine Geologist role include:

  • The collection of high quality data and interpreting, modelling and reporting of the results
  • Creating ore blocks
  • Completion of daily and monthly reports through the use of Minemarket
  • Assisting with the daily delineation of ore in the field and direct the digging of different ore types
  • Supervise drilling contractors on their rotation and design grade control drilling programs
  • Assisting in developing systems to manage material movement from new ore sources as they come online

About You

  • Experience in open pit operations, accompanied by a tertiary qualification in Geology 
  • Knowledge of open pit mining is preferred with a sound Geological understanding of Nickel deposits would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in QAQC and end of month reconciliation.
  • Proven commitment to organisational OHS rules and a positive "can do" attitude with potential leadership skills.
