About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role is accountable for the planning and maintenance of all geological information, as well as providing geological guidance to the operational departments. We have multiple vacancies at our Gunnedah Open Cut Operations (Tarrawonga and Werris Creek), so enquire to see which would suit you the best!
What You’ll Do
- Ensure the geological model is maintained up to date to enable technical planning and operational requirements to be met over current and future mining areas
- Ensure inspections and mapping is conducted as required to maintain the geological model and enable the provision of timely geological information to operational personnel (mapping for horizon control, coal quality etc)
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained and risks managed to as low as reasonably practicable for all employees and contractors
- Liaise with and provide technical support to mine management
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or related discipline
- Two years of mining experience in an open cut coal mine
- High level analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the risk management, safe work practices and statutory requirements required to create and maintain a safe work environment
