About the Role
One of Australia’s largest mining operations with a complex mineral processing system, Olympic Dam is unique producing Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities. The role will be based at Olympic Dam on an 8:6 roster with options of residential, FIFO or DIDO offering flexible work arrangements.
Reporting to the Mine Services Engineering Coordinator, this role plays an integral part in supporting the versatile Underground Mine Services operational team specialising in the construction & maintenance of critical mine infrastructure including services, ventilation & barricades, UG diamond drilling, safety store and contractor management.
You will provide specialist advice and execute analysis and benchmarking of the function's end-to-end performance. You will identify and support the execution teams with improvement initiatives that enable business priorities and promote continuous improvement through our BHP Operating System routines. This is a dynamic role which will provide you a breadth of variability on a day-to-day basis, to be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated and can effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders. Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Identify & implement improvement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in collaboration with the team, MOPs, and Capital Projects teams, and support the team’s BOS routines and contribute to continuous improvement maturity.
- Support the team in BOS performance and improvement routines.
- Build cross-functional relationships with other Analysis & Improvement sub-functions.
About You
We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values and communication skills. In addition, demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.
Your success will be driven by experience in the following areas:
- Your success will be heavily influenced by your strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, coupled with your ability to identify and raise issues, find solutions in complex situations, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with a tertiary engineering qualification (preferably underground mining), or 5+ years with relevant underground mining experience.
- Previous experience in managing and implementing improvement initiatives highly regarded.
- Operational underground mining experience preferred but not essential.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite, SAP, Deswik.CAD & MDM, production reporting databases and platforms will be advantageous, but not essential.
