Managed by Yancoal, Premier Coal is the leading coal producer in Western Australia.  Operating an open cut coal mine near Collie in the South West of WA, the operation produces coal for the domestic market with contracts to 2030.  

About the Role

As a Mine Surveyor at Premier Coal you will be responsible for contributing to all survey requirements associated with open cut mining operations. Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be a part of a supportive and motivated team. working an 8/6 roster. The role will require you to:

  • Set out all design/plan information as required, and provide survey control information for production
  • Support operations through accurate survey control, monitoring dig areas and conducting stockpile/mining volume reconciliations to ensure compliance with internal plans
  • Maintain and develop site survey control
  • Compile and audit data required for month end overburden and coal reconciliation
  • Ensure that survey equipment is maintained to required standards at all times
  • Assist the Registered Surveyor in updates to statutory mine plans, including the completion and submission of statutory reports
  • Maintain survey consumable stocks at appropriate levels
  • Provide technical support, advice and assistance to other stakeholders as required to ensure all survey requirements have been met on schedule

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Diploma or relevant tertiary qualification in Surveying
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in Mining/Civil industry
  • Demonstrated experience with open-pit mine surveying
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong focus on safety and sustainable practices
  • Well-developed Microsoft Office skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • An authorised Mine Surveyor's certificate (WA)
  • Experience with Vulcan software
  • Experience with Multi rotor UAV
  • Experience with maptek scanners
  • Experience with business improvement processes
