Our Surveying team is expanding and seeking an experienced, self-motivated Mine Surveyor for an 8:6 or 15:13 roster.

Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes of Deflector and South West deposits. An accelerated near mine exploration program coupled with first production from the Southwest deposit make for it busy and exciting future for the Deflector team.

Reporting to the Chief Mine Surveyor, the Mine Surveyor will deliver all site survey requirements for both the underground and surface aspects of the operation, using up-to-date leica total station equipment as well as surface and underground drones.

This position will be offered on a 15:13 or 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Maintain accurate survey control of underground workings, surface development and stockpiles.
  • Effective use and maintenance of Leica Total Station equipment, and GPS equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory regulations, as well as Vault Minerals Surveying standards.
  • Generate accurate survey data and effectively communicate information to the technical team in a timely manner.
  • Assist with Ensuring Emergency Plans are up to date and easily accessible (as per regulatory requirements).
  • Produce Mine Plans for regulatory submissions (under the direction and supervision of the appointed Surveyor).
  • Installation of necessary survey control for directional control of mining.
  • Produce survey plans and memos as required to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate records of mining physical statistics and assist in the preparation of monthly reports, including conducting detailed end-of-month surveys for volume reporting.
  • Assist/conduct aerial survey work as required using a DJI M350 and Elios 3 Drones and associated processing softwares, including Flyability, Pix4D and QGIS.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Surveying or equilvant.
  • Previous experience in an underground mining environment.
  • Previous experience operating UAV/drone equipment in a surveying capacity, with RePL (Remote Pilot Licence) accreditation desirable.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficient use and application of MS Office suite, and relevant mining software Deswik Suite.
  • Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
