Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama & Pinikura (PKKP) People.

8D/6R - FIFO Ex Perth

Fortescue operates one of the largest fleets of autonomous trucks in the world while continuing to expand autonomous operations to other mining operations. This role reports to the Superintendent Technology, the position is a key role in Fortescue’s Technology Operations Department, responsible for providing support, system planning and troubleshooting for the mine communication infrastructure. The role is part of a team that provides critical support in planning, operating, diagnosis of, and repair of communication systems hardware to maximise the system availability for mining operational technology.

Key accountabilities will include:

HSE / Safety Management

  • Ensure compliance to all BMS obligations including management of incidents, hazards and actions prior to escalation.
  • Initiate safety conversations to promote safety in the workplace.
  • Follow documented work instructions and procedures.
  • Correctly use and maintain PPE, tools and equipment provided.
  • Only undertake work for which you are competent and authorised to perform.
  • Take control for every task and participate in the construction of JHA’s and work permits as required.

Work Management / Business Process

  • Process handover logs at the end of each shift and coordinate the transfer of responsibility for maintenance work between shifts.
  • Manage pre-start meetings.
  • Ensuring all meetings are attended or dialed into.
  • Ensure meaningful historical data is captured in SAP and compliance with the business work management including notifications, and work orders.
  • Technical input in assisting with system planning for Mine communication infrastructure, specifically Tetra radio systems and the wireless network used by the FMS.
  •  Completion of PM01 & PM02 Work Orders ensuring that time spent on task is captured through the use of time confirmation.
  • Raise and approve notifications as required. Timely and complete break-down fixes.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Cert IV in communications or electrical trade as a minimum.
  • C Class manual drivers license – essential.
  • Working at heights and Elevated Work Platform certification highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with Minestar Fleet Management Systems, Tetra Digital Radio and LTE radio systems highly regarded.
