About the role:
At MRM, we are currently seeking an experienced Mine Technician to join our Mining Technical Services team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will provide reliable and timely geological support to mine design and production personnel. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for a variety of geological-focused tasks, including;

• Installation, maintenance and operation of Geotechnical Monitoring Instrumentation.
• Assist the Geotechnical Department with monitoring and geotechnical data acquisition and management.
• Provide auxiliary support to the Geotechnical Department as and where required for ad hoc tasks.
• Provide field assistance with the collection and processing of geological data from grade control sampling, waste dump sampling, field mapping, and project work. 
• Assist in minimising dilution of waste in the ore stream, and the accurate delineation of ore and waste contacts.
• Provide reliable and timely geological advice to mine design and production personnel.

The role is FIFO from Darwin, working 15 days on and 13 days off and is a fantastic opportunity for work life balance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience in open pit metalliferous mines and Grade Control procedures
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safety
• Skilled in the use of excel, word (experience with mining software e.g. Vulcan is highly desirable).
• High Risk Work LF license (Forklift; HR)
• Surveying experience or qualification is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of computer based geological databases and mine design systems desirable

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world.
