Who we’re looking for
As a Mine Trainer, you will provide, maintain and improve employee’s competency levels through training and assessment. Through the support of the On-the-Job Training model, you will assist with employee development in achieving their targets.
Based in Orange NSW, this is a 3-year fixed term residential role working a 7 on 7 off dayshift/nightshift rotating roster.
Key responsibilities include:
Safety
- Encourage Safety Programs such as the NewSafe Behaviours and Newcrest Values to ensure positive communication and assistance is given to others when identified or needed.
- Actively facilitate Prestart Meetings when required.
Operational
- Carry out hands-on underground machinery training using the approved training and assessment documentation.
- Maintain training and assessment material through the identification of any changes to ensure that material remains current.
- Support new training techniques or processes (On the Job Trainers, Paperless tools such as laptops etc.)
People
- Use the training learning management system to complete training gap analysis against current role descriptions as per schedule and/ or training advisors request to identify training needs for Development personnel.
- Maintain competency levels/ skills to self to ensure training and competency standards are met.
Planning
- Carry out inductions to personnel as required and assist in onboarding of personal
- Liaise and plan training with Supervisors and/ or training advisor to ensure training needs are being met within agreed timeframe.
About you
Qualified with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, you will have experience across underground mining with specific experience Cablebolting and/or Shotcreting. Working with Learning Management Systems, ideally Success Factors is preferred but not mandatory. An accredited ticket in High-Risk areas such as Working at Heights etc would be highly advantageous.
A manual driver’s licence is compulsory to work at Cadia Operations.
You should also have a passion for compliance and process improvement and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Your ability to work to structure, experience in stakeholder and change management along with ability to prioritise and think quickly on your feet will ensure your success in the role. Proficient use of MS Office and ability to operate training systems will also be required for the role.
