About the Role

BHP Coal has a well-established remote operations facility in the heart of Brisbane - the Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC+).  This world-class control centre coordinates the near-term scheduling, planning and controlling of our Coal Operations from a central location and delivers performance improvements across the Coal operations in a sustainable way.

We are seeking experienced MineStar Fleet Management System (FMS) Specialists with mining and Business Analyst experience to join our team. The Fleet Management team’s purpose is to drive world leading truck & shovel performance by improving the processes and systems we use to manage our fleet management systems and truck fleets.

This role is unique in that you will have the opportunity to work across our Saraji, Peak Down and Caval mine sites that run the MineStar Fleet Management Systems (FMS). This position will own the entire process improvement pipeline, from opportunity identification and process design to implementation. You will be ensuring effective utilisation and optimisation of FMS systems and coaching mine controllers on best practice.

In this role you will:

  • Positively shape the IROC+ culture in alignment with the BHP Charter Values
  • Motivate, engage and coach the team towards achieving safety, inclusiveness and productivity goals
  • Actively manage the correct setup and configuration of the FMS systems to achieve optimal production outcomes
  • Analyse FMS and production data to identify opportunities and utilise structured problem solving methodologies to determine the root cause of issues and improve current production
  • Lead improvement projects for your operations
  • Coach controllers in the best practice use of the Fleet Management Systems
  • Work with Execution Supervisors to identify and correct performance deviations
  • Develop high quality project deliverables including process design, technical specifications, training documentation and communications artefacts

About You

You will have a proven track record with Fleet Management Systems or project delivery and analysis within mining. You will have the capacity to problem solve and optimise daily production through the continued improvement of FMS strategies, tactics and training. To be successful in this role you will possess the ability to analyse, problem solve, build capability in others, drive performance, collaborate and influence in the right mix.  

In addition, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Previous MineStar or Command FMS experience as a controller or FMS specialist
  • Have intermediate understanding how to write and execute SQL queries (MYSQL)
  • Able to use Power BI to present data.
  • Proven problem solving ability including investigation skills and defining root cause
  • Project management skills and distinctive proficiency in business improvement
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills with the ability to learn new systems & tools
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to knowledge transfer and upskill others
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work both autonomously and as part of a highly collaborative team
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business
