The Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Mining Engineer will be responsible for supporting the production engineering team to ensure that all production planning tasks for our two underground copper mines are executed as per plan and in a safe and timely manner.
With your operational experience from a similar role within underground hard rock mining, you will work closely with teams to achieve ongoing improvement across production. You will be driven by a challenge, enjoy collaborative team work succeed.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Tritton Copper Operations employs more than 400 people and is located in Hermidale in Western New South Wales. Tritton has two underground copper mines (Tritton and Murrawombie) and is forecast to produce more than 21,000 tonnes in FY2023.
Tritton is a key employer within the region and a proud supporter of the community. Accommodation support is provided as well as company transport from Nyngan to the operation. Nyngan is a family friendly community, with a variety of shops, gyms, and sporting activities as well as primary and high schools.

The Role

Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Demonstrate proactive safety behaviour
- Develop and implement plans to coordinate day to day activities to achieve budgeted targets.
- Stope design and optimisation
- Liaising closely with all operational and technical teams to ensure compliance is maintained with regards to costs and productivity for delivering mining physicals
- Provide clear direction to short and long-term planning and scheduling of drill and blast resources as required
- Ensuring that drill and blast procedures are engineered to keep risk at an acceptable level if required
- Managing drill and blast contractors as necessary
- Currently hold or be eligible to obtain a mine manager's certificate of competency
- Collaborate with production, planning and operations teams
- You will be tertiary qualified in Mining Engineering, and have some experience working across operations, planning or production roles
- You will have planning, drill and blast experience in an underground hard rock metalliferous environment
- Experience using Surpac or Deswik software
- You will demonstrate well developed communication and stakeholder management skills
- Capable of working autonomously, but equally a strong team player within the team.
