MINING ENGINEER

Location: Blackwater Permanent Full-time

About the Business

We are seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join our site-based team in Blackwater on either an 8/6 roster or a family friendly Monday to Friday.

Yarrabee Coal Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, which is a couple hours west of the Capricorn Coast.

With an international sales portfolio, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high quality PCI coal. Yarrabee also manages the Boonal Joint Venture Coal Stockpile and Train Loadout Facility, for both Yarrabee and Jellinbah Mine's Coal.

Operating continuously since 1982 Yarrabee has a strong long term future outlook for ongoing coal production. The site employs a workforce of approximately 400 people, which proudly boasts it's integrated close knit culture of people who collectively pull together as a team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent within the Technical Services team, you provide technical expertise of short and medium term mine planning services and support to front line supervisors.

Key aspects of a Mining Engineer at Yarrabee;

• Ensure implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan and site Safety Health and Environmental standards to ensure safe and sustainable mine standards 
• Use your skills to design and develop rolling weekly excavator plans and schedules for the mining operation. 
• Ensure all equipment and frontline supervisors have up-to-date dig and dump plans 
• Ensure design process is followed for all designs and ensure design amendments to suit operational requirements and are communicated to Mining Team
• Coordinate plans and schedules and monitoring of actual progress with benchmarks. 
• Maintain compliance with safety standards, environmental standards and associated legislative requirements 
• Prepare and submit daily and weekly production reports and summaries.
• Ensure all production schedules are adhered to in order to meet production requirements
• Ensure all statutory requirements are fulfilled in the technical management of short term mine planning and reporting of the project to key stakeholders
• Utilise your skills to continually aim for innovative solutions and support standardising site Technical Services processes.

About You

In order to be successful in this role you will hold the below qualifications & experience;

• Degree in Mining Engineering or comparable degree
• Experience in open cut mining operations within the coal industry preferred
• High standard of written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
• A drive for continuous improvement initiatives through scheduling, design or innovation
• Passion and commitment to safety and the environment
• Advanced MS Office skills are essential along with Vulcan experience and other mine planning software is advantageous
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act
• Demonstrated ability to successfully and constructively interact with people at all levels, including internal, external stakeholders and clients.
