We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer to consistently provide reliable, accurate and sustainable mine planning services and support in order to position Mining and Plant operations for optimal performance. Weipa Northern and Southern Operations plan to produce in excess of 35Mdpt of Bauxite in 2023 through conventional truck and front loader mining method.
The principal role accountability is to produce the Development Short Term Plan with the aim of maintaining adequate ore inventories ahead of the production fleet. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the main components of achieving the minimum required standard include:
- Producing accurate mine scheduling information for integrated operations.
- Providing relevant maps (dumps, parent shapes, clearing, accesses, development, ancillary tasks) and machine guidance files as required to implement dig and dump plans.
- Completing and communicating plan reconciliation.
- Maintain Push to Stockpile Database
- Managing plan deviations to maintain Development fleet productive. Ensure such changes are properly communicated to peers and direct report.
- Support production planning engineers when required especially when Development is off-season.
- Assist in miscellaneous Services projects.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- Detailed understanding of Truck / Loader scheduling and operation
- Practical understanding of all other mining design, scheduling, and operation
- Experience in other heavy industry, aside from Mining, will also be highly regarded
- Basic understanding of supply chain management.
- Sound level of proficiency in basic business software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint or similar)
- Basic proficiency in business management software (SAP or similar)
- High level of proficiency in CAD mining software, preferably Deswik and / or similar
- Excellent numerical analysis and data validation skills
- Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and industry practices
