The Opportunity - Mining Engineer (Mine Design) - Boddington


Provide expertise, coordination and management in the development of all short and medium term (up to two years)mine plan designs. The mine design process must take into account all HSEC requirements to ensure safe, cost effective and continuous production that meets all quality consideration.  This role is offered on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

Location

This role is based at the Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).  This is a DIDO position as there is no accommodation on site.
Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night. 

Accountabilities  
 

•    Rigorously apply and continue to review South32’s Risk Management policies principles, tools and investigation methodologies to ensure our people are not exposed to illness or injury.
•    Ensure compliance with all legislative and license to operate requirements including legal and contractual obligations as they apply to internal and external stakeholders.
•    Delivery of timely designs and pit extraction sequences, including rehabilitation and clearing
•    Support Operational Teams to reduce costs through identification of opportunities in mine design to improve performance.
•    Ensure Designs are optimised to deliver the most effective production capability of the equipment in accordance with Manufacturers Operating Standards and site safety requirements.

About You  
 

•    Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
•    Proven ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguity
•    Proven capability to operate in a complex environment, with experience working in surface mining operations.
•    Proven capability in the use of planning and design tools, specifically Vulcan (or similar.)
•    Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
•    Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an equivalent role in the mining sector
