About the Role

We are seeking a talented Mining Engineer to join our inclusive and high performing Production Scheduling team. This team sits within the wider Integrated Production & Remote Operations (IPRO) department of BHP Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO). The Mining Engineer role reports to site based Production Scheduling leadership, and has no direct reports.

The team is responsible for generating mine operational schedules, mine plans and designs in the 0-2 year planning horizon. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Scheduling and communication of operational mine plans;
  • Ensuring that mine schedules and mine development work is aligned with the long-term strategy whilst ensuring they are operationally achievable;
  • Demonstrating Industry-leading commitment to heritage, environment and safety and ensuring this forms the foundation of all our plans;
  • Ensuring that risk in the mine plan is proactively identified and effectively controlled;
  • Engaging stakeholders with regards to gathering plan inputs and communication of plans;
  • Continuously improving both efficiency and value through work planning practices and procedures, as well as identifying opportunities for efficiencies in the operation.

About You

Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, other related disciplines such as Engineering and Geoscience, and/or significant mining operational experience.

Desirable:

  • Resource industry and site based mining experience
  • Experience using mine scheduling software packages (such as Alastri, Spry, Deswik)
  • Experience using mine design software packages (such as Vulcan, Deswik)
  • Capability with mine planning and/or scheduling software
