About the Roles
We are enthusiastically seeking Talented Professionals to join our team in the role of Mining Engineer. Reporting to the Superintendent Production Scheduling, these are exciting technical roles in both disciplines of design and planning, as part of the team accountable for providing strategic direction and excellence in mine planning and design services to support our operations.
The roles are part of the team located within the BHP Pilbara Operations at our Yandi Mine Site. This site offers a unique career opportunity to be working with the site team in an operating mine, involvement in the early mine development stages of the next opportunity and be a part of making a positive social impact through the active closure and rehabilitation works.
Working in an inspiring and challenging environment, in these roles you will be responsible for:
- The generation and delivery of operational and related infrastructure designs, including related planning documents for all enabling activities for the site and next project.
- Shaping and driving improvement through a team of technical experts and be instrumental in influencing our future business outlook.
- Working with our partners at site and across supporting functions to develop optimised mine plans and schedules across tactical time horizons, creating executable schedules that meet quality and business targets
- Identifying risk and opportunities, managing change and communicating the operating strategy without compromising on quality and sustainability, whilst maximising productivity.
This role is key to deliver value, provide a safe working environment and embed sustainable improvements in the planning team processes.
About You
You will have a collaborative approach, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups and positively influence outcomes. Your excellent communication skills include a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and preferences and an ability to support site teams by providing context and insight, and being able to articulate risks and potential opportunities within the plans to facilitate decision-making and strategic direction.
Experience preferred:
- Engineering/technical roles within the Resources industry
- Qualifications in Mining Engineering or other related disciplines, and or/ significant mine site experience
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
- Capability with Mine Scheduling Software (Alastri, Deswik etc)
- Capability with mining CAD packages (Vulcan, Deswik etc)
Additional desirable skills and strengths include:
- Ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make pragmatic decisions.
- Seeking to continuously improve both efficiency and value of the process through work planning practices and procedures
