Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and three hours’ drive from Sydney. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy.

Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector, excellent educational facilities, shopping, transport and other services such as childcare.

Challenge yourself with us:

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious Mining Engineer to work on the expansion of Newcrest’s underground gold mine Cadia, utilising cutting edge block caving methods.

In collaboration with Geology, Geotechnical and Metallurgical team members, you will draw on your experience in underground mining to map out and set in place plans aimed at achieving optimal operational effectiveness of the mine site.

Through quality mine design and sequencing, you will ensure the mitigation of major hazards, applying lessons learned in the ongoing planning process

About you:

You have a thorough understanding and practical knowledge of the complexity and challenges involved in underground mining as well as excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels of the business.

You are competent in the use of mining software packages and Microsoft office for the purposes of formulating strategic mine to mill plans which consider effective reserve recovery strategies, grade reconciliation and operational interactions to form the basis for the quarterly forecast and annual budget.  

You will also possess the following:

  • Tertiary Level Mining Engineer qualification
  • Underground Mining experience.  
  • Experience or exposure to block caving is highly desirable
  • Competent in the use of mine software packages
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
