Mining Engineer – Medium Term Planning
Work Location : Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mine Planning Engineer to join our Perth-based planning team on a 5/2 roster. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer – 2 Year Planning, this role is responsible for carrying out various ranges of design and planning activities to support production at the Christmas Creek Mine. To be successful in this role candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with both operational, shorter (2 week and 3 month) and longer term (10 year and Life of Mine) planning intervals and be able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works.
Key responsibilities include:
- Timely delivery of the 2-year mine plan, with the aim to translate the 10 year strategic plan in to an operational mine plan
- Deliver rolling 2 Year OPF schedule, product quality, ROM stocks forecast, pit and dump progression, fleet requirements and development schedule
- Analysing performance and compliance to plan to validate and refine the assumptions in the 2-year plan
- Liaise with support functions, including Geology, Drill & Blast, Geotechnical, Hydrogeology and Surface Water to understand risk and opportunities to the mine plan and to enable timely achievement of milestones
- Identify risks and opportunities to the work produced
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or similar
- Relevant experience in medium-term planning and mining operations
- Computer and scheduling software proficiency (Alastri Tactical Scheduler, Haul Infinity and Rapid Reserver or other equivalent scheduling packages)
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with both operations and technical teams
- Strong presentation skills to be able to present to different groups including managers
