Mining Engineer - Medium Term Planning
Work Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama & Pinikura (PKKP) People.
Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex. Perth
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and high performing Mine Planning Engineer to join the Eliwana operations planning team. Reporting to Senior Mining Engineer, this role is responsible for the preparation and delivery of 3 Month Mining Schedules along with coordination of mine development projects and associated designs. To be successful in this role candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with both operational, short and longer-term planning intervals, and being able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivery of 3-month mine plan, Ore feed and stockpiling schedules
- Timely delivery of plans and schedules to meet internal delivery timelines
- Liaise with support functions, including Approvals, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology, to understand risk and opportunities to the operation and to enable timely achievement of mining milestones
- Coordination of multiple stakeholders in mine development projects to distribute resources effectively and meet critical deadlines for delivery
- Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and other technical guidance as required
- Assessment of sequencing, blending and mining methodology options for both cost and productivity metrics
- Communicating plans, scenarios, and designs with relevant stakeholders
- Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and other technical guidance to other stakeholders
- Generating Cost Forecasts for 3-Month Plan Horizon and tracking against Quarterly forecasts
- Liaise with 2-year and 2-week planners to ensure alignment across the time horizons
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or similar
- Minimum 4 Years proven experience as a Mining Engineer, preferably with exposure to short and or medium-term planning
- Practical approach to engineering and design problems
- Experience in Open Pit mining and Blending methodologies
- Experience with Alastri and Vulcan software highly desirable
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiatives
- Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to convey technical detail, potential risks and opportunities within the planned works to a variety of stakeholders
