About the Role

We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership capability, and communication skills. Reporting to the Production Engineering Superintendent, this opportunity will involve working on a variety of tasks to support production and planning to ensure that efficiency and quality targets are met in a safe and timely manner.

This position is a site-based role on a 7:7 FIFO roster from Perth or residential at Leinster with responsibilities for:

  • Analysing and improving short-term planning to minimise lost opportunities
  • Work closely with the draw control officer to generate the short term production plan and communication of priorities
  • Develop and optimize Mine Integration Plans for complex mining areas and or/high interaction mining areas, including the highlight of risk analysis (controls and mitigations), and opportunities
  • Assist on drill and blast designs
  • Assist on the improvement of ventilation system designs
  • Overseeing the implementation and ongoing governance of key standard operating procedures 
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relations  with all stakeholders
  • Driving our safety culture through quality field leadership

Location

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.

About You

At Leinster, our Underground Mining Team are exposed to two different caving methods, Sub-Level Caving and Block Caving. With upcoming developments planned, we are looking for someone with operational and technical experience in mining and production with the motivation to be exposed to drill and blast, Ventilation, and production engineering roles. Required Skills:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Project Management or Mine Planning, 
  • Mine planning software skills (Deswik), Ventsim
  • Drill and Blast experience is preferred but non-essential.
