About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for providing and optimising the mine plan and support to Production Superintendent. Using your solid mine planning/scheduling skills and operational experience you will develop effective working relationships with the operational and planning teams and will ensure the efficient execution of short-term plans and schedules for an open cut production fleet.

The roster will be 5/2 & 4/3 FIFO.

Your key deliverables include:

  • Supporting the development of the Mine Short Range Forecast (SRF) and identifying improvement opportunities for increased performance and safety;
  • Optimising bench turn over with Drill and Blast, dig and dump sequencing, equipment selection to maximise productivity;
  • Identifying and recommending solutions around enabling activities to support the SRF compliance;
  • Analysing and reporting on weekly and monthly performance including development of weekly plan and enabling activities for front line team;
  • Supporting and identifying interactions in week +1 horizon to ensure delivery of SRF providing data and information through clear plans;
  • Defining performance trends and making recommendations for improvement while minimising cost through financial awareness.

About You We are looking for an experienced candidate that has proven resource industry and site-based experience and leadership potential. You will be innovative with a bias to action, effectively influence others and have a strong ability to lead change.

Experience with business improvement methodologies such as BHP Operating Systems, and use of data management and analysis tools such as Spotfire or Corvus, would be highly beneficial. Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly valued.

To be successful you will demonstrate the following:

  • Overriding commitment to safety;
  • Have 2+ years previous production scheduling/planner experience in open cut mining, with exposure to drill & blast advantageous;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions;
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to senior management;
  • Ability to build and report on deployment statistics and performance;
  • Proficient use of production systems, MS Office suite and mining software, including Vulcan, Trimble;
  • Ability to design dump and dig profiles to support front line teams and machine guidance systems.
