Mining Engineer – 2 Week Planner

Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer - Weekly Planning, this role is responsible for carrying out short-term production scheduling associated with the delivery of the 2-week mine plan.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Resource based weekly mining schedules of the load and haul optimised for efficiency and adherence to the 3-monthly mining schedule
  • Detailed weekly production drill and blast plans including drilling, loading and firing schedules
  • Weekly blend schedules that adhere to grade constraints
  • Production and delivery of key outputs including the 2-week mine plan, integrated Planning requirements, material destination plan and schedule upload
  • Liaise with mining personnel to ensure adherence to mining schedules and produce detailed mining instructions
  • Must be capable of understanding design standards, procedures and mine physical
  • Haulage scheduling, optimisation and development work schedules

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering or equivalent (or working towards equivalent)
  • Previous experience gained as a mining engineer with significant exposure to production scheduling and/or drill and blast engineering
  • Knowledge in open pit mining preferably in iron ore with a practical approach to engineering and design problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Desirable – Experience with Alastri software (Haul Infinity, Rapid Reserver, ATS, APS)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Current WA C-Class driving licence
