Mining Engineer - Short Term Planning (Weekly)
Work Location: Across all active Fortescue sites in the Pilbara
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer - Short Term Planning, this role is responsible for carrying out short-term production scheduling associated with the delivery of the 2-week mine plan.
Key responsibilities include:
- Resource based weekly mining schedules of the load and haul optimised for efficiency and adherence to the 3-monthly mining schedule
- Detailed weekly production drill and blast plans including drilling, loading and firing schedules
- Weekly blend schedules that adhere to grade constraints
- Production and delivery of key outputs including the 2-week mine plan, integrated Planning requirements, material destination plan and schedule upload
- Liaise with mining personnel to ensure adherence to mining schedules and produce detailed mining instructions
- Must be capable of understanding design standards, procedures and mine physical
- Haulage scheduling, optimisation and development work schedules
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent (or working towards equivalent)
- Previous experience gained as a mining engineer with significant exposure to production scheduling and/or drill and blast engineering
- Knowledge in open pit mining preferably in iron ore with a practical approach to engineering and design problems
- Desirable – Experience with Alastri software (Haul Infinity, Rapid Reserver, ATS, APS)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Current WA C-Class driving licence
