Mangoola Coal is a modern open cut coal operation within Glencore Coal Assets Australia, located approximately 20 kilometres west of Muswellbrook and 10 kilometres north of Denman in the scenic wine growing and tourism region of the Hunter Valley. Mangoola Coal is proud to support of the local community and has received multiple awards and industry recognition for environmental excellence and safety.
The site produces 10mtpa of export coal with extensive coal reserves to support a long mine life. The mine operates a fleet of large mining equipment including Liebherr excavators 996B/9400/9250, Caterpillar 793D and 789C rear dump trucks and Caterpillar ancillary equipment. With the latest proven technology, a sound resource, and a growing dynamic team culture, Mangoola Coal is an industry leading operation.
We are looking for highly motivated Mining Engineers to join our safety and result-driven team. The positions are permanent full time, working a Monday to Friday roster. We offer an attractive remuneration package including performance-based bonuses. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates.
In the Drill and Blast Engineer role, you will be responsible for:
- The design and scheduling of Drill and Blast operations in a technically challenging environment.
- Adhering to strict blast vibration requirements in order to meet production needs safely.
- Producing the short-term drill and blast schedule.
- Undertaking accurate, timely and operationally effective designs to meet the requirements of the Short Term mine plan.
- Ensuring that the appropriate risk management processes are utilised when planning work.
- Complying to the site safety and health management system, communicating the operational plans, and monitoring the implementation of the design in the field.
In the Short-Term Planning Engineer role, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing mine plans which allow operations to meet or exceed productivity and utilisation rates.
- Creating designs and schedules that are operationally and technically robust and maximise value.
- Ensuring mine plans and designs are adhered to and communicated to team members.
- Proactively forecasting and developing mine plans with an outlook of 3 months.
- Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with the Production and CHPP teams to ensure that targets are achieved across the operation.
About you:
- You will have tertiary qualifications or equivalent in the mining engineering discipline.
- You will have a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in open cut coal.
- You will have a strong understanding of both technical and operational aspects of mining, a demonstrated competency in mine design software (preferably Vulcan and ShotPlus) is also desirable.
- You can demonstrate sound literacy in Excel, Word, and other associated Microsoft packages.
- You have a high regard for your personal safety and the safety of your teammates.
- You have the ability to work in high pressure situations with competing workplace priorities.
- You are a team player with a high level of safety awareness, an attitude for outstanding performance, and a willingness to contribute to a winning team.
