Mining Estimator

Macmahon is accepting applications for the role of Mining Estimator to join our Estimating Team. This is a permanent full-time position based at our Head Office near the Perth Airport T1/T2 terminals. This role would suit a Mining Engineer looking to transition to an estimating role.

The role focus

• Prepare mining and heavy civils cost estimates, budgets, and tenders in accordance with the Macmahon Tendering Policy
• First principles calculation of costs, applying best practice methodology and rigour
• Conformance to tender documentation
• Undertake tender site visits
• Contribute to mining engineering and estimating Community of Best Practice
• Prepare and programme tender reviews and finalise submission schedules in a timely manner
• Maintain estimating library, templates, databases, systems, calculators, and tools
• Technical support for feasibility studies and budget forecasts
• Mining equipment selection for mining tenders
• Ongoing participation in project improvement initiatives
• Support for projects including site visits as required
• Participate in Value Engineering workshops and peer reviews
• Coach and mentor junior members of the estimating and technical team
• Actively contribute to risk assessment and promotion of a zero-harm work environment

The ideal candidate

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Mining Engineering degree or equivalent
• 5 + years on site mine planning experience at a variety of site
• Excellent communication
• Financial and budgeting acumen
• Mine Planning Software experience in Vulcan/Deswik/Alastri/Spry but not essential
• Expert Estimator experience is essential
• Advanced Microsoft office suite experience is essential
