- Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi people.
Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth or Monday to Friday
Reporting directly to the Solomon General Manager, the Mine Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient working of the open pit mine, including drill, blast, load and haul operations.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Provide visible safety leadership
- Create a culture conducive to growing a high-performance team
- Set clear and achievable objectives that meet the strategic and business plans for the mine
- Review and plans and report against benchmarks and actively aligning plans when required
- Lead the team to focus on department targets are met in a safe and efficient manner
- Prioritise departmental initiatives & assign resources to achieve business performance improvement targets
- Ensure that appropriate quality control and quality assurance systems are in place
- Apply a value driven model for the site mining team in the production, maintenance, and have responsibility for the management of mining contractors.
- Propose and justify investments in new equipment or systems by identifying compelling improvement options
Qualifications required:
- Extensive mining experience within mineral processing
- Unrestricted Quarry Managers Ticket
- Industry related degree or equivalent desirable but not essential e.g. Mining Engineer
Skills Required:
- Strong operational leadership experience
- Demonstrated people focused leadership style to create an inclusive workplace
- Contract management experience
- Excellent technical surface mine experience and knowledge
- Demonstrated drive to achieve safety and production outcomes
- Results-orientated with an ability to meet multiple competing deadlines
