ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

These are permanent positions on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

We are looking for experienced operators for our Ancillary and Dozer crews at GEMCO. You will safely execute operations activities through operating equipment in accordance with GEMCO standards and operating procedures.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Execute the production mining and/or development activities according to the production plan
• Effective communication of equipment status to pit control
• Adhere to defined standard procedures and apply safe work practices
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and hazards

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience working in mining operations
• Experience operating:
  • CAT D11 Dozers in bulk push operations, or,
  • 30-60T excavators conducting various mining ancillary tasks such as top of ore clean up, edge of ore drainage, sumps and pumps movements, poly pipe installations; or,
  • Moxy articulated haul truck operation; or
  • Installation and operation of mechanical and electrical water discharge systems, including poly piping
• Current C class driver licence (manual)
• A strong commitment to safety
• Able to relocate yourself to Darwin or Cairns if successful
