King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Open Pit Mine Manager, the Mining Production Superintendent will be responsible for leading and managing all day‑to‑day mining production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective mining production in line with the approved mining plan. The role oversees front-line supervisors, mining crews, and contractor operations while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Direct and oversee daily open‑pit mining operations, including drill and blast programs, load and haul execution, and waste and ROM activities.
  • Oversee and manage production schedules to ensure the successful delivery of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets, adapting plans as required to respond to changing operational conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with VAU safety policies, the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022 and other appropriate legislation.
  • Monitor and analyses equipment utilisation, productivity, and performance to ensure optimal deployment and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with Mine Planning, Geology, and Maintenance teams to align operational priorities, manage interfaces effectively, and ensure seamless execution of the mine plan.
  • Oversee and control operational expenditure across labour, equipment, fuel, and consumables, ensuring accurate, timely daily shift reporting and data integrity within relevant operational systems.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve productivity and minimise waste through continuous improvement initiatives, while proactively reporting production performance, variances, risks, and key operational issues to senior leadership.
  • Engage in planning meetings to provide informed operational input into medium‑ and long‑term production strategies, supporting sustainable and commercially optimised mine execution.
  • Lead and develop supervisors, operators, and mining crews through effective coaching and mentoring, while managing workforce planning, performance management processes, and capability and training requirements
About You
  • Extensive experience in the role of Mining Production Superintendent within an open‑pit gold or hard‑rock mining environment, including oversight of daily production, workforce leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong capability in driving production outcomes, executing operational plans, and managing costs to meet budget and performance targets.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the capability to confidently engage, influence, and collaborate at all levels of the organisation.
  • knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software, INX, Pronto and Power Bi.
  • Hold the WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers certification and WHS for Statutory Supervisor Training/Qualification (Schedule 26).
  • Current WA C class drivers license.
