MINING SUPERINTENDENT

The Mining Superintendent will lead the Mining Production Team to continue to improve the operational performance of the Coal and Partings (C&P) function. As a key member of the Mining Team, you will oversee and support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of key operating systems and process controls to ensure an efficient and cost-effective process for C&P.

We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.  Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. Cameby- Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. We employ approximately 150 people, and aim to support our local communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide:

•    Direction for the C&P Team to ensure maximum and sustainable profitability.  •    Display and encourage positive safety behaviour consistent with the Yancoal Values. •    Ability to influence and communicate effectively with cross functional stakeholders.  •    Implement annual budgets through developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the people and plant performance.  •    Drive leadership capability through demonstrated alignment to uphold site standards, policies and procedures. •    Review cost expenditure on a regular basis to ensure monthly costs are on budget.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

•    Demonstrated experience at a Superintendent level in a similar environment. •    Working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations and how they pertain to individual and supervisor obligations. •    Demonstrated experience at leading and mentoring Production Supervisors for the purpose of maximising mine productivity, cultural alignment and employee growth and development. •    Current Australian Open Driver's licence (mandatory).
