As the Mine Operations Superintendent you will have full responsibility for the underground operations team of Underground supervisors and underground operational staff. This position reports to the Mining Manager, and you will be responsible for all operational aspects to keep the underground mine performing as required. You may also deputise as the underground manager in the Mining Managers absence. This role is based at our Jaguar mine site 60km north of Leonora.
This role can be either for a seasoned mine operational person who has worked their way up from hands on operational roles through to a supervisory/foreman level or a mining engineer who wants to build on solid operational experience and sees this as a good foundation for a future Underground Managers role.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide effective monitoring, encouragement and coaching to the Underground Mining Supervisors and other underground employees
- Ensure a regular review of manning and equipment requirements and report this through to the Mining Manager
- Assist in the development of the weekly and monthly schedule
- Facilitate pre shift meetings
- Monitor the weekly and monthly operational targets and ensure all activities are planned to achieve expectations
- Investigation of all accidents, incidents, hazard identification and similar events. complete all required documentation and associated reporting
- Ensure all mining activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and that works are executed to design specification and tolerances
- Inspection of mine infrastructure and services required for the mine to operate
- Provide practical mining advice to technical staff as required
- Conduct inspection of the underground mine and associated areas to ensure compliance to relevant legislation
- Set clear goals and expectations, provide feedback and address employee performance issues in a timely manner to allow them to fulfil the requirements of their position description safely and productively
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Essential
- W.A. Shift Supervisors Ticket (essential)
- 10+ years underground mining experience
- Understand general mining operations
- Skills with incident reporting and investigation
- Proven ability to manage shift supervisors and underground crews
- Occupational Health and Safety Requirements within a mining environment
- Ability to prioritise and manage a heavy workload to provide direction to the team
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Effective communicator at all levels of the business
- Strong problem solving, organisation and time management skills
- Flexible and adaptable attitude

The Operation
Jaguar Operations employs more than 250 people and is located 60km north of Leonora and 250km north of Kalgoorlie. Our workforce is predominantly a FIFO workforce from Perth to our camp facilities 10 minutes from site with fully equipped gym, recreational and social activities organised as well as Foxtel and Wi-Fi in camp for use.
Jaguar Operations is an established underground zinc, copper, and silver mine located 65 km north of Leonora in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It is a high-quality asset in an established mining jurisdiction that produces two separate concentrate streams: a copper concentrate and a zinc concentrate. The operation includes a 600ktpa processing plant, as well as surface and underground infrastructure, and has been in production for more than 10 years.
The Bentley mine is the current focus of operations. Jaguar Operations has a current mine life of four years, although recent successful exploration campaigns are expected to lead to significant mine life extensions.
