At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world.

Operations near and far

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector with a modern well-equipped regional hospital, excellent educational facilities, shopping, large selection of sport and recreation options, transport and other services such as childcare.

Who we’re looking for

As a Mining Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading the mining team in the delivery of our current and future caves and other related capital scopes of work. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering the future caves of Cadia in a safe, cost-effective manner in line with milestone delivery dates and with an owner's mindset.
  • Leading and setting direction for the execution team of foremen, supervisors, and operators.
  • Driving a culture that showcases Newcrest's Newsafe transformation
  • Collaborating with site and key stakeholders to ensure shared outcomes are considered and adequately managed.

Our ideal candidate will have a relevant Mining degree qualification, but this is not essential. It will also be advantageous to have a NSW Mining Engineering Manager certificate of competence, or the ability to gain one.

We are looking for a team-oriented individual who has:

  • The ability to lead an inclusive mining team in the successful delivery of our future caves
  •  A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and an ability to foster alignment and integration of key stakeholders to Newcrest Safety culture and values. 
  •  A strong background in development mining, including cablebolting and minor civil installations, with past experience in caving considered advantageous.
  • Experience with managing large capital scopes of works including Raisbore mining
  • A strong commitment to business improvement and maximising performance through bottom-up initiatives.
