Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent Dragline, Drill and Blast (DD&B) you will be responsible for proactively managing safe production outcomes throughout the shift. You will be supervising blasting activities and required to lead your team to drive performance, excellence and safe production. As the ideal candidate, you will have extensive experience in open pit mining.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes: •    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to resolve issues effectively. •    A can-do attitude that fosters teamwork using problem solving skills that includes team member participation. •    Demonstrated skills in risk management, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance. •    Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with other stakeholders in the business. •    Computer literacy – able to use MS Office suite programs such as Excel, Word and PDF. •    A can-do attitude and have a positive impact on culture.  •    Results driven. •    Previous experience leading a team as a Mining Supervisor. •    Hold a current OCE Statutory ticket or the ability and commitment to gain this qualification. •    Hold a current NSW Security Clearance or be able to obtain one.
