About the role:  An opportunity exists for an experienced Mine Survey Superintendent to join our Coppabella Moorvale Mine. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of three open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay producing coking and low to mid-volatile PCI coal for export markets. The Mine Survey Superintendent reports to the Technical Services Manager.

The Role

  • Providing support to mine planners and operations through pit design, set outs, topographic surveys/scanning, data reduction, accurate volume calculation and reporting, to enable the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Producing accurate survey data in accordance with statutory and company standards.
  • Establishing survey controls and reporting and ensuring that statutory requirements are met.
  • Conducting engineering surveys for mine infrastructure as well as end of month calculations.
  • Managing the survey database in Vulcan and spreadsheets.
  • Focusing on health and safety, environmental considerations whilst engaging people as well as have commercial awareness and delivery of results.

About You

  • 5 years proven experience in a similar role in an open cut mining operation.
  • Degree qualification in surveying or a related discipline
  • Registered with the Surveyors Board of Queensland with Mining O Endorsement
  • Knowledge of Mine Surveyors obligations under QLD Legislation
  • Previous experience in ArcGIS, Vulcan, Point Studio and UAV software.
  • Experience in laser scanning and UAV operations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and technological advancement in mining
