Specialist - Mining Systems | Improvements
Work Location:
- Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi people.
- Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama & Pinikura (PKKP) People.
- Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: Solomon; 8D/6R, Eliwana and Iron Bridge; 4D/3R
Reporting to Senior Specialist – Mining Systems, this role will be responsible for providing operational expertise, Fleet Management Systems (FMS) & technology governance, and support to all operational teams for mining systems applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Investigate and document system issues/changes & incident investigations.
- Identify improvement opportunities and assist with generation of Project Charters
- Responsible for analysing and implementing continuous improvements projects across all Mining Systems suites.
- Accountable for compliance to Mining Systems Improvements framework and facilitation of project updates/weekly improvement meetings to wider stakeholder groups.
- Validate and monitor FMS system upgrades & Field Follows at the respective HUB.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Mining Systems standards and best practices.
- Providing systems expertise, including recommendations about setup and configuration.
- Providing applications support, systems upskilling and coaching to mining operations teams.
- Facilitating system expertise and knowledge transfer to operational teams and leaders.
- Being the “go-to” person for Autonomous Haulage System operational expertise & knowledge.
- Help Mining team with system related issue & incident investigations.
- Executing Fortescue’s Mining Systems support strategy to develop internal capability with reduced reliance on OEM’s.
Qualifications and skills required:
- 3+ years hands-on experience with Autonomous Haulage Systems
- 3+ years’ operational experience in an open cut mining environment
- Understanding of Agile delivery methodology
- Must be able to work with wide-range of stakeholders, building and maintaining rapport, understanding stakeholder needs and using influencing skills to establish a win-win outcome.
- Advanced computer literacy & passion for Mining Autonomy, Innovation and Technology
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities at the same time.
- Proficiency of Autonomous Haulage Systems is essential.
- Mining Operator experience is highly regarded.
- Reporting and database skills are desirable.
