About the role
We are looking for an Analyst, Mobile Equipment within the Global Equipment and Diesel Transition Program team in procurement. This role is of utmost importance, requiring a commitment to safety and sustainability while being attentive to details in market dynamics, spend analytics, technology, and contract governance.
A key responsibility of this position is to provide support on the contractual governance, sourcing, and execution of global category strategies within Heavy Mobile Equipment, Light Mobile Equipment, Technology, and Tyres (Mobile Equipment). This role presents an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong analytical ability, adept data management skills, and demonstrated procurement experience to gain global exposure and make a significant impact in critical categories with an annual spend of over ~US$1.6 billion.
Reporting to the Category Manager, Mobile Equipment, you will:
- Gather market intelligence on essential Mobile Equipment categories and OEMs, forming the foundation for Mobile Equipment Category and Sourcing strategies
- Support global sourcing initiatives, including drafting and execution of Light Mobile Equipment and Tyres contract documentation
- Assist in contract management activities of Rio Tinto's key Mobile Equipment partnerships (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Toyota, Bridgestone, Michelin)
- Extract, analyze, and interpret spend data along with intricate pricing formulas
- Develop reports on cost savings, expenditures, business unit spend, tailored analyses, and other performance metrics
- Facilitate data collection for forecasting, supply chain management and risk assessments
- Contribute to category value creation initiatives, bringing innovative ideas and energy to enhance capability and knowledge within the category
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- Good understanding of the RTP Category Management Cycle. and process and policies and guidelines
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal); professional, succinct and clear
- Sound commercial acumen, problem solving, analytical skills and data capture skills
- A positive disposition that reflects a strong drive and ambition to succeed
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI; to enable clear and impactful presentation of that data to support effective decision making
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline. CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply is advantageous

This role will be based in Central Park – Perth’s CBD hub.
