At Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) we are leading the global energy transition by developing a portfolio of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects. To realise those projects, we are building a significant portfolio of green hydrogen technologies through a growing research and development program that is executed in Innovation Centers across Australia, Europe and the US.
An opportunity exists for a driven and outcomes-focused Modeling & Conceptual Engineer to join FFI’s recently established Innovation Center in Colorado to develop models to enhance data-driven decision making that will inform our projects and technology strategy.
Work location: Golden, Colorado
Roster: Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, deploy, and maintain tools to enable data- and model-driven decision making.
- Collaborate with other research teams, business units, and external partners to build and interpret detailed technical and economic models.
- Conduct techno-economic assessments of new technologies to support business cases and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate technical and economic considerations.
- Analyze data, derive insights, and prepare reports and presentations.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, applied mathematics, or related field
- Advanced degree in engineering preferred (for example, chemical engineering, process engineering, energy systems analysis, or related field).
- 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of technologies in clean tech and the hydrogen sector.
- Experience with technoeconomic analysis, engineering design and costing methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis, visualization tools and programming languages such as Python and R.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other advanced computer science topics preferred.
- Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA), carbon accounting, sustainability standards, etc. preferred.
