Our Cadia site is located in the Central West of New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and three hours’ drive from Sydney. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy.

Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector, excellent educational facilities, shopping, transport, and other services such as childcare.

Who are we looking for

As our new Moly Plant Leading Hand, you will assist the Final Product Supervisor in all facets of production on a day-to-day basis in the Filtration Plant within the Ore Treatment area. Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, maintaining the compliance and execution of daily tasks, isolations & shutdown plans. You will ensure the Ore Processing Department is operating safely, effectively and meeting agreed production and recovery targets at below budget cost.

Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate, support, and encourage alignment with Newcrest values and policies. You’ll also ensure compliance with safety and environmental management systems, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure operation of the processing equipment occurs within the process parameters and control limits in accordance with documented safe work procedures
  • Actively contribute to improvements in safety culture and processes to ensure ongoing, practical improvements in safe work practices and operator training
  • Manage the shift activities of the Process Technicians, including the assignment of duties/responsibilities, isolations and permits, training and development
  • Report, investigate and contribute to mitigating actions for all incidents and hazards identified
  • Relief supervise and compile daily reports on overall production and recovery targets while troubleshooting and actioning any variance outside of parameters or target

Through excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, you will support your supervisor to coach, mentor and guide your team, work seamlessly with various stakeholders to achieve the required safety, operational and commercial outcomes and apply a pro-active problem-solving approach to issues that arise.

In addition, you will be required to have:

  • Experience within a Concentrator / Knowledge of processing plant environment
  • Ability to promote a positive, inclusive work culture
  • Ability to lead small teams
  • High-level computer skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Motivated and organised, with great communication skills

This will be permanent role with a roster of 7 days on, 7 days off, followed by 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
