Position Title

Native Title Specialist (Agreements)

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Role overview:

The Native Title Specialist (Agreements) role works closely with the Native Title Principal (Agreements), and with the wider team, on native title compliance, obligations, and agreement matters.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Negotiating native title and heritage agreements
  • Maintaining systems that capture native title agreement obligations and compliance
  • Providing advice to the business on native title compliance and agreement matters
  • Working with internal teams to deliver outcomes that reflect the business’ needs

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Understanding of the key international and industry indigenous engagement standards as they apply to agreement-making
  • Understanding of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and relevant case law, and the Mining Act 1978 (WA)
  • Ability to work well in a diverse team, engage with and support others in the business to identify and manage key risks and opportunities
  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Tertiary qualification in law or a related subject area
