About the role
We are looking for a Network Engineer, this role works closely with project stakeholders, project and operational teams, governance bodies and vendors. As the successful applicant you are responsible for low level solution design, documentation and implementation of IT and OT networks across corporate, production and village networks to deliver technical solutions that align to Rio Tinto standards, business and operational requirements.
Technical knowledge
Through analysis and knowledge of technical communications solutions, you ensure the right technical solution is delivered to meet the business.
Develop and document low level designs and bill of materials across multiple technology functions such as WAN, LAN, Wireless, and Security.
Perform equipment factory acceptance testing and configuration in line with Rio Tinto standards and guidelines.
Develop, document, represent and execute technical change management and testing to ensure successful solution delivery.
Ensure that the new solution aligns with the approved future-state architecture adopted by Rio Tinto.
Communication
Communicate the proposed solution to various business and project stakeholders who have different technical knowledge through various means to ensure the right solution is delivered.
Business knowledge
Build working relationships with team members to facilitate a culture of shared knowledge and common processes
Delivery
Ensure approved solutions are delivered to the business in line with Project schedule during approved change windows, to meet business requirements.
Transition project deliverables to relevant internal operational teams for ongoing support and maintenance
Leadership
Be the project technical lead and decision maker
Provide technical assurance over vendor technical deliverables
This role reports to the Manager PMO & Delivery APAC East and is part of our global Information Systems &Technology (IS&T) PMO.
What you’ll bring
- Subject Matter Expert in IP communications technologies, with a focus on the Cisco hardware platform.
- Experience with Firewalls, IPS, 802.1X, Cisco Wireless product portfolio and Azure/AWS infrastructure.
- Desired: PCN (Process Control Networks), DNAC, SDWAN.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering large scale network solutions.
- Strong understanding of the change management process with the ability to champion technical changes to a non-technical audience.
- Strong knowledge of IP Communications fundamentals, focusing on OSI Layer 1 to 3.
- Heavy exposure to large scale production critical, and enterprise networks.
- Experience in preparing documentation suitable for transitioning project deliverables to operational support.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, and/or Cisco CCNP level.
