We are looking for a Server Engineer to working closely with project stakeholders, project and operational teams, governance bodies and vendors, and be responsible for low level solution design, documentation, and implementation of IT and OT server solutions across corporate, production and village networks. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned engineer who is keen to contribute their vast knowledge in this space and support their wider team.

Reporting to the Superintendent Project Engineering and working in a collaborative community, you will:

  • Through analysis and knowledge of server and infrastructure solutions ensure the right technical solution is delivered to meet the business
  • Provide technical review, assurance and approval of vendor submitted documentation, including designs and bill of materials across the Rio Tinto corporate and production server environment
  • Perform and witness equipment factory acceptance testing, and configuration in line with Rio Tinto standards and guidelines.
  • Develop, document, represent and execute technical change management and testing to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Ensure that the new solution aligns with the approved future-state architecture adopted by Rio Tinto.
  • Communicate the proposed solution to various business and project stakeholders who have different technical knowledge through various means to ensure the right solution is delivered.
  • Ensure vendor solutions are delivered to the business in line with Project schedule during approved change windows, to meet business requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Subject Matter Expert in Infrastructure technologies, with a focus on Windows Server platform
  • Strong understanding of services relating to infrastructure – AD, DFS, VMWare, Hyper-V, WSUS
  • Strong understanding of the change management process with the ability to champion technical changes to a non-technical audience
  • Heavy exposure to large scale production critical, and enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience in preparing documentation suitable for transitioning project deliverables to operational support.
  • Ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders, in multiple regions
  • Experience and knowledge in VMWare, Vsphere and Hyper-V environments.
