We are looking for a Network Engineer – IP who will work closely with project stakeholders, project and operational teams, governance bodies and vendors. As the successful applicant, you are responsible for low level solution design, documentation and implementation of IT and OT networks across corporate and production networks to deliver technical solutions that align to Rio Tinto standards, business, and operational requirements.
You will be the Subject Matter Expert in IP communications technologies, with a focus on the Cisco hardware platform.
Reporting to the Superintendent D&E – Major Projects and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our IS&T project delivery team, you will:
- Through analysis and knowledge of technical communications solutions, ensure the right technical solution is delivered to meet the business requirements
- Develop and document low level designs and bill of materials across multiple technology functions such as WAN, LAN, Wireless, and Security.
- Communicate the proposed solution to various business and project stakeholders who have different technical knowledge through various means to ensure the right solution is delivered.
- Ensure approved solutions are delivered to the business in line with Project schedule during approved change windows, to meet business requirements.
- Transition project deliverables to relevant internal operational teams for ongoing support and maintenance
- Be the project technical lead and provide technical assurance over vendor technical deliverables
What you’ll bring
- Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Proven experience in designing and delivering large scale network solutions.
- Strong understanding of the change management process with the ability to champion technical changes to a non-technical audience
- Strong knowledge of IP Communications fundamentals, focusing on OSI Layer 1 to 3.
- Heavy exposure to large scale production critical and enterprise networks.
- Ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders, in multiple regions
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, and/or Cisco CCNP level
- Experience in preparing documentation suitable for transitioning project deliverables to operational support.
