About the Role
As part of the BHP Iron Ore Network Operator, the High Voltage (HV) & Power Operations team is responsible for the Operation of our HV transmission and distribution network across the Pilbara.
This role will provide opportunity to lead our dynamic team of Operations Engineers and Network Controllers to provide exceptional operational engineering support and overarching control of our network. As well as implementing improvements, which contribute to our purpose of providing safe and reliable power to our customers.
Your role will also be critical in the integration of renewable energy sources into the network over the next few years as WAIO works towards its decarbonisation goals, which will be both challenging and exciting.
Reporting to the Superintendent HV & Power Operations, you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Developing a high performance and cohesive team along with mentoring talent for succession focused on providing exceptional operational engineering support to our stakeholders and implementing improvement projects on the network
- Managing stakeholder relationships and enhancing our communications with the Execution, Governance and Technical Stewardship, Projects and Reliability teams to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of our network. United by a shared desire to continually improve our network, systems and processes
- Demonstrating safety leadership by supporting the Field Leadership program to continuously improve safety performance and contribute to ensuring Material Risks are managed as a Control Owner
- Ensuring all HV transmission and distribution systems are managed and operated in accordance with BHP procedures, industry best practice and relevant regulatory requirements
- Supporting the successful implementation of projects on the network by providing Operational support to the Project team from initiation through to handover
- Contributing to long term planning/strategy of the network as part of the HV Network Management Standard
About You
We are looking for individuals who possess the following characteristics:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical trade background
- Previous experience in an Electrical Utility, Mining or related industry and implementation/operation of renewable technologies is highly desirable
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on working collaboratively and developing teams
- Have a commitment to safety and genuine care for their team
- Supporting the health and wellbeing and sustainable development of team member
- Strong stakeholder management, project management and analytical skills
- Ability to engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to higher-level management through good verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Innovative with a bias to action
- Proven ability to engage and inspire others through change
Location
This role will be offered as a FIFO based role from Perth on a 4D/3X or 5D/2X 4D/3X roster or Residential in Newman, but those in pursuit of flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.
