Operations near and far

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance.  Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer. 

Who we’re looking for

We are currently seeking a technical operational leader with proven safety knowledge, to be a key member of the coaching team, developing visibly felt and technically sound supervisors that are safety focused in their actions and supportive of a NewSafe culture. Reporting to the Leadership Coach, you will deliver the approved NewSafe Coaching program at the Telfer Mine Site.

Key skills of the NewSafe coach include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategies to communicate effectively
  • Understanding and demonstrating Visible Felt Safety Leadership (VFSL)
  • Identifying hazards and managing risks
  • Understanding, displaying and supporting operational discipline
  • Overt support and encouragement for NewSafe behaviours
  • Create a psychologically safe work environment
  • Deliver workshops and training to diverse frontline work teams

As the ideal candidate, you will come from an operational mining or heavy-industry background and be a committed and supportive safety-focused professional. Through excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, you will work seamlessly with various stakeholders to achieve the required safety and operational outcomes.

You will have strong coaching and presenting abilities, as well as an excellent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint. We are looking for someone who is motivated, well respected, an effective communicator, and able to work across different levels of site

In addition, you will also possess:

  • Operational line management experience
  • Proven background in mining of other heavy industry
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships and connections
  • Strong reporting, coaching, and presenting skills
  • Sound computer knowledge (SAP, Excel, Word etc.)
  • C Class Drivers Licence (Essential)

Please note: This is permanent position on a FIFO (8days on/6days off roster), flying out of Perth.
