The HSE team at RTA’s Bell Bay Smelter are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced OccupationalHealth Advisor to join their highly skilled team to provide, pre-employment medical assessments, periodic medical surveillance for employees and contractors and return to work coordination services at Bell Bay Aluminium. Reporting to the HSE Business Partner, you will have flexibility to work a 5/2 (Monday – Friday) or 9/5 roster. In this role you will:
- Provide advice and support to improve health and safety performance and prevent injury and illness across the operation
- Conducting pre-employment and periodic medical testing and health surveillance
- Performing injury management and return to work services
- Manage the worker’s compensation processes
- Coordinating and delivering health and wellbeing promotion activities
- Providing leave coverage and training on site
- Conducting Health & Safety reporting functions for internal HSE management system requirements
- Support the HSE team with broader strategic initiatives such as Mental Health and wellness campaigns
What you will bring
- Experience in Occupational Health, preferably in mining, construction or heavy industry
- Allied health qualifications (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Registered nurse, exercise physiologist)
- Previous experience performing and interpreting Audiograms and Lung Function test – with relevant certification (desirable)
- Previous experience with Injury Management, Return to Work coordination
- Experience with Cority (or similar) Electronic Medical Records System
- Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety systems, standards and key risk management and assurance processes
- An ability to work collaboratively and engage with a variety of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
- A self-motivated work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience in AOD Screening and holds relevant qualification – (Desirable)
- Basic and Advanced life support qualification – Desirable
